The theme for this week is Shadow. Picture Perfect (linked) is a weekly opportunity to post a picture to go with a chosen theme and then to see everyone else interpretation of that theme. Not a competition at all but looking at the suns rays as a rainbow. (One may click on he photo to get a real feel of enlarged version).
I am selecting two appropriate meaning as available amongst many to highlight in this blog.
Shadows, darkness, esp. that coming after sunset.
(For the first meaning the photo is adorned). The picture above covers national highway (newly constructed) between Pune and Mumbai. The exact location is Lonavala, the hair pin bend on a perfect sunset taken by my son Amrit on Olympus FE 270. One can see a silhouette of the tree along with traces of its shadow on the high way.
Shelter; protection:
(for the second meaning the explanation follows.)Mother is the shelter between a father and the children. This shelter is been made of love, love to husband and love to children and the bridge of love between children and father. She gives shelter to the home and is being a shelter is also called shadow, (saya); wherever the man leads the saya follows come what may. That is the Indian tradition.
“Shadows” (linked) are here to please you all on a theme “Apache”
The best ever shadow of the nature is the lunar eclipse. (linked) Read more about the nature’s best ever shadow.
How about heritage of shadow in India?
Brahadeeswrar temple of Tamil Nadu (linked) was built by a King called RajaRaja Chola I (linked). The 'Vimana' (cone) of the temple is about 70 meters and is among the tallest of its kind in the world. The 'Shikharam' (crown) of Brihadeswara temple is itself very large and heavy (81.25 tons) and has been carved out of a single stone. The calculations are such that the shadow of this structure shall be within its base at all times of the day and any day of the calendar month of the year. (courtesy and mark of respect to jayaramanms who (linked) gave me a hint to include this during our chat)
I had the original 45 of this song and loved it I think it was by Jorgan Ingman. The intriguing thing of the pic is the way the highway looks; when I make it larger that's what catches my eye and not the sun. Thanks kiddo. Barry
beautiful picture papa shankar, it is so serene... i love sunsets, it casts a tranquil, yet somewhat scary shadow to the land as light give way to darkness...
